"The 1994 Riverblock is a complex, poised and elegant bottle of pinot, but is obviously riper and less pure than the 1996. The nose offers up a complex mélange of plums, black cherries, cocoa powder, herb tones, woodsmoke and touch of wood. On the palate the wine is fullish, succulent and focused, but without quite the same shape and tang of the 1996. There is still good length and grip on the finish of the 1994 and it is quite a tasty bottle of wine, but I miss a bit of the sparkle of the 1996."
