Very good deep color, but not ruby like the above. Perfumed, refined aroma of dusty, spicy black cherry; quite like Pauillac. Lush, sweet and supple on the palate, with strong, fresh black cherry flavor. Finishes with ripe tannins, though the tannins come across as a bit less obtrusive here because the acidity is lower. Quite suave. 14.9% alcohol.

550 cases of the 1990 Zinfandel-Old Hill Ranch were produced (from 99-year old vines). Although it does not have the color saturation of the Cooke Vineyard Zinfandel, and appears slightly less massive on the palate, it is no shy Zinfandel. A huge nose of black cherries, earth, and spices is followed by a wine with a sensational middle palate and great length.
